ALLERGIC FOOD REACTIONS

An allergic reaction occurs when the immune system reacts strongly to one or more specific proteins.
Allergic reactions can be triggered by the proteins present in:
Food;
In insect stings;
In latex;
In medicine.
Proteins are said to be allergens. Even though they are not dangerous for most of us, allergens can cause potentially fatal reactions in people with severe allergies.
The type and severity of the symptoms of an allergic reaction vary and these, the latter, can manifest themselves more or less quickly,
even get worse very quickly.
The most serious reaction, called anaphylaxis, can be fatal.
The most common symptoms of an allergic reaction are the following:
Redness or pallor of the face, hives, rash, redness and itching of the skin;
Swelling of the eyes, face, lips,
throat and tongue;
Difficulty in breathing, speaking or swallowing;
Anxiety, hopelessness, feeling of alarm, weakness, dizziness;
Cramps, diarrhea, vomiting;
Drops in blood pressure, shock, heart rate accelerations, loss of consciousness.
